Geranium Bulls Eye Mix Seeds produce F1 zonal pelargoniums with rich chocolate-coloured foliage and bright mixed flower trusses for sunny beds and containers.

Grow Guide: How to grow BullsEye seed pelargoniums in South Africa.

Quick Grow Facts

  • Growth type: Tender upright perennial, commonly grown as seasonal bedding or a container annual where frost occurs.
  • Botanical name: Pelargonium × hortorum BullsEye F1 Mix; commonly called geranium, but not a true Geranium.
  • Seed form: Coated seed; sow as supplied and do not scarify or remove the coating.
  • Best sowing time: Start in protected warmth from late winter into spring; plant outside after frost risk, or use another mild local window before peak heat.
  • Position: Full sun; give afternoon protection in very hot districts.
  • Sow depth and light: Cover by about 1 mm with fine mix or vermiculite. Light is not required for germination.
  • Germination: Keep the medium close to 23°C; allow about 7–14 days for visible home-tray emergence.
  • Spacing: 30–35 cm apart in beds or larger containers.
  • Mature size: Approximately 30–35 cm high and 30–35 cm wide.
  • Flower outcome: Bright cherry, light-pink, red, salmon and scarlet series colours above dark foliage. A small mix packet does not guarantee every colour or equal ratios.

Why Grow This Variety

  • Chocolate-coloured foliage adds contrast even between flower flushes.
  • Upright plants suit beds, patio pots and mixed containers.
  • Coated seed is easy to place one per cell.
  • Bright mixed flowers provide varied colour without implying identical plants.

Garden Uses

Use BullsEye Mix as a dark-foliage feature in sunny borders, larger pots or mixed containers with enough airflow around each plant.

Growing Notes

  • Keep the coating evenly moist after sowing so it softens, but do not leave the tray waterlogged.
  • Move seedlings into bright light as soon as they emerge.
  • Use free-draining soil, water early in the day and deadhead complete spent trusses.
  • No support or routine pinching is needed.
