Herb Grow Guides

Grow fresh flavour close to the kitchen, or fill a sunny corner with fragrance. Find practical South African grow guides for culinary herbs and aromatic plants, from your first sowing to ongoing care.

Browse the 20 guide entries below. Each link opens at the beginning of its grow guide, where you can choose a variety or find the help you need.

Choose herbs by their identity and intended use. Aromatic plants are not all edible: lavender is listed here for ornamental use, catnip has pet-specific advice, and borage and chamomile need the safety guidance in their guides. Culinary sage is different from ornamental Russian sage.
