Quick Grow Facts

  • Plant Type: Tender perennial, usually grown as a cool-season annual pot or bedding plant
  • Scientific Name: Pericallis × hybrida, synonym Cineraria × hybrida
  • Seed Form: Raw seed; sow one seed per cell
  • General Sowing Time: Late summer to autumn when a protected, cool finishing period is available
  • Position: Bright filtered light or morning sun with afternoon shade
  • Sow Depth and Light: Surface sow; do not cover; light is required
  • Germination: 21–24 °C; 4–5 days under ideal breeder conditions; allow 7–14 days at home
  • Transplanting: Plug crop about 6–7 weeks; transplant before root-bound
  • Final Spacing: About 25–30 cm in sheltered displays; this is a species-level garden range
  • Growth Form: Compact, mounded, colourful daisy-like blooms

Why Grow This Variety

  • Mixed colours create a dense cool-season flower display.
  • Compact plants suit pots, entrances, patios and bright shaded borders.
  • The series is selected for larger flowers, smaller dark leaves and improved uniformity.

Garden Uses

Use Resort Mix as a protected winter-to-early-spring feature in individual pots, grouped containers or a sheltered semishaded bed.

Growing Notes

  • After transplant establishment, flower initiation needs about 3–4 weeks of cool conditions: roughly 10–14 °C days and 7–13 °C nights.
  • Keep the mix evenly moist but never waterlogged; high heat and harsh sun shorten the display.
  • Use airflow, soil-level watering and prompt deadheading to reduce grey mould in cool humid weather.
  • Protect from frost; cool-growing does not mean frost-hardy.
