Want sweet yellow peppers for salads, grilling and colourful meals? Kavango is a yellow bell-pepper selection for a sunny garden, with blocky fruit to pick when fully coloured. Give the plant warmth, steady water and space for airflow.

Ready to grow Kavango Yellow Bell Pepper? Follow our Pepper and Chilli Grow Guide for protected sowing, regional planting windows, hardening off and fruiting care.

Quick Grow Facts

  • Crop: Kavango sweet bell pepper, Capsicum annuum.
  • Growth form: Upright, branching fruiting plant; support heavy stems if they bend.
  • Sow: Start in protected trays about 6 mm deep in fine, freely draining mix. Keep the root zone warm, around 27–32 °C for general pepper propagation, and evenly moist.
  • Plant out: Harden off and transplant to sun after frost danger passes and nights and soil warm.
  • Space: Roughly 45–60 cm between plants; allow extra airflow in humid gardens.
  • Harvest: Cut firm, well-sized fruit once it has developed the yellow colour you want. Handle branches gently so remaining fruit can continue to ripen.

Care and Kitchen Use

Use fertile, well-drained soil and water deeply and evenly while flowers and fruit develop. Mulch after soil warms. Avoid excess nitrogen and inspect for pests or leaf disease before treating. Wash fruit and enjoy it fresh or cooked.

Seed safety: Sowing seed is for planting, not eating or sprouting. Keep it out of reach of children and pets and wash hands after handling.
