Quick Grow Facts
-
Crop: Golden Cayenne, a medium-hot Capsicum annuum chilli.
-
Growth form: Compact, upright bush, about 46–61 cm tall in breeder guidance; support laden stems if needed.
-
Sow: Start about 6 mm deep in protected, free-draining mix. Keep it warm, around 27–32 °C for general pepper propagation, and evenly moist.
-
Plant out: Harden off and move into sun after frost risk passes and soil warms.
-
Space: Allow roughly 30–45 cm between garden plants or use a free-draining container about 20 cm across or larger.
-
Harvest: Cut green fruit for an earlier fresh use, or let it turn golden yellow for a riper, hotter chilli suited to drying.
Use fertile soil, steady water during fruit set and mulch after soil warms. Dry peppers thoroughly with a food-safe method before grinding. Wear gloves for hot fruit, avoid touching your eyes, and wash hands and tools. Sowing seed is for planting, not eating or sprouting. Brought to you by Ubuntuberg Seeds.
