How to Sow Gypsophila Multi-Pellets
- Wash the tray and use fresh, sterile, freely drained seed-starting mix. Fill one small plug cell for each pellet.
- Pre-moisten the mix evenly, then let surplus water drain. The surface should be damp throughout, not puddled.
- Place one multi-pellet on each cell and press it gently into contact. Do not break it apart: the small cluster is the intended plant unit.
- Leave the pellet visible or dust it with coarse vermiculite. The current packet says 2 mm; treat that as the maximum translucent cover because the seed needs light.
- Mist thoroughly so the pellet is wet through. Cover with a clear dome or transparent sheet and keep the seed zone near 20°C.

- Check at least daily. As soon as green shoots appear, vent and remove the cover, give bright light and gentle airflow, and reduce the temperature toward 15–16°C.
Pellet Moisture Without Damping-Off
The sowing stage has two different moisture needs. Before emergence, the pellet must not dry while its coating breaks down. After emergence, constant saturation and stale humid air encourage damping-off. Make that change promptly rather than keeping the dome on for convenience.

Tray raising is more reliable than direct sowing because expensive pellets are easier to keep evenly moist and visible. If you direct sow during settled cool weather, use the same surface method, mark each position and protect it from crusting soil, heavy rain, ants and drying wind.

Use Gypsy for a soft flowering edge, a low pot mound or a basket that spills gently over the rim. You may snip short sprays when most flowers on a spray are open for small posies or delicate filler. The stems are naturally short; do not expect the long commercial stems of Gypsophila paniculata.
Pests and Diseases
