• When to sow: After the last frost.

  • Gauteng/Highveld: Aug–Nov

  • KZN/Lowveld & Coastal: Aug–Dec

  • Western Cape: Sept–Jan
    Frost-free areas can sow into late summer for autumn colour.

• How to sow: Direct sow where they are to flower (best). Sow 5–10 mm deep, keep moist. Germinates in 5–10 days at 20–26 °C.
  Starting in trays is fine for an early jump; transplant gently at 2–3 true leaves and disturb roots as little as possible.

• Spacing: 30–40 cm between plants for airflow and strong stems.
