Why Grow This Variety

  • Pink-and-white stems and light-green cotyledons add colour and peppery crunch.
  • The packet's 4–6-day germination and 10–15-day harvest suit a rapid tray crop.
  • A small clean tray fits a bright kitchen or sheltered growing area.
  • Cut microgreens suit salads, sandwiches and garnishes after careful hygienic handling.

Garden Uses

Use China Rose microgreens in salads, sandwiches and garnishes where their colour, texture and peppery flavour can stand out.

Growing Notes

  • Use only a received packet that remains labelled for microgreens and has no contradictory treatment warning.
  • Sow 1–2 mm deep, about 1 cm apart, in a clean drained tray; do not use the old live 15 mm depth or 30 cm spacing.
  • Keep near 18–22°C with even moisture, then give bright light and airflow immediately after emergence.
  • Bottom-water where practical and harvest above the medium at 10–15 days with sanitised scissors.
  • Discard any sour-smelling, slimy or mouldy tray; washing cannot make a contaminated crop safe.

Microgreen food hygiene: Wash hands and clean and sanitise food-contact trays, drainage trays, scissors and the work surface. Use potable water and a clean food-suitable medium without raw manure. Cut above the medium, wash under potable running water immediately before eating and keep cold. Discard any mouldy, slimy or sour-smelling tray.
