Why Grow This Variety
- Single and bicoloured star-shaped flowers create a distinctive display.
- Strong branching gives compact plants good flower coverage.
- Improved heat tolerance helps flowers continue longer into warming weather.
- The low growth form suits pots, border edges and smaller beds.
Garden Uses
Use Popstars in a sunny patio pot, border edge or massed bed where its patterned star-shaped blooms can be seen closely. Choose a container with drainage holes and avoid crowding in humid weather.
Growing Notes
- Sow one raw seed per cell, cover 3 mm and keep at 20–22°C; germination light is not required.
- Move seedlings into bright light immediately after emergence and grow on near 16–18°C.
- Keep moisture even without severe wilting or saturation; annual phlox is sensitive to high salts.
- Transplant before plugs become root-bound and handle the root ball gently.
- Water at soil level, maintain airflow and watch flowers for thrips and foliage for powdery mildew.
