Why Grow LM / Berea Grass
- Adaptation from full sun to shade suits lawns with mixed light.
- Creeping growth supports recovery after heat and temporary water stress once established.
- Indigenous growth suits South African gardens, parks and embankments.
- Established LM can be managed as a lower-input lawn than high-water winter-green mixtures.
Growing Notes
- Spread the weighed seed in two crossing passes on a fine, firm and weed-free seedbed.
- Keep the surface evenly moist without puddles until broad emergence, then reduce frequency gradually.
- Mow sunny LM at about 30–40 mm. In shade, leave about 60–70 mm of leaf and do not scalp.
- Expect growth to slow where frost or cold soil inhibits the lawn.
