  • Sow Depth: About 1 cm deep.
  • Spacing: 25-30 cm apart so large heads have space to develop.
  • Germination: Keep evenly moist in cool, bright conditions.

Why Grow Lettuce Iceberg Winter?

  • Large iceberg type for crisp winter salad heads.
  • Source copy notes that it grows very well through winter.
  • Good cool-season option for beds, rows and larger containers.
  • Pelleted seed is easier to place and thin accurately.
  • Useful for succession sowing across the cooler months.

Garden & Kitchen Uses

Grow Lettuce Iceberg Winter in a sunny winter vegetable bed or raised planter. It is well suited to fresh salads, sandwiches and crisp lettuce cups when harvested as the heads firm up.

Growing Notes

  • Prepare fertile, moisture-retentive soil before sowing or transplanting.
  • Keep young seedlings protected from slugs, snails and birds.
  • Water steadily, but avoid waterlogged winter soil.
  • Thin or transplant carefully so each plant has enough space to head.
  • Harvest when heads are full and firm enough for your preferred use.
