Establish a mixed-texture lawn in sun to partial shade with Evergreen Lawn Seeds. This perennial blend combines tufted and creeping lawn types and needs regular water and feeding to maintain colour.

Ready to establish a lawn that suits sun and partial shade? Follow our step-by-step Lawn Seed Establishment Guide for sowing, germination and care advice.

Quick Grow Facts

  • Plant Type: Perennial proprietary lawn blend
  • Composition: A blend of tufted and creeping lawn types
  • General Sowing Time: Spring or autumn
  • Position: Sun to partial shade
  • Sow Depth: Cover shallowly as directed for your chosen product, then press for firm seed-to-soil contact
  • Sowing Rate: Measure the area in square metres and use the rate stated for your chosen product; rates differ between lawn types and seed forms
  • Temperature: Use a mild sowing window; avoid extreme heat, frost and waterlogged soil
  • Establishment: Emergence and full coverage are separate stages; allow seedlings to root and the lawn to fill in before regular use
  • Growth Form: Tufted and creeping

Why Grow This Blend

  • Mixed growth forms help produce dense coverage in sites with sun and partial shade.
  • Cold-tolerant perennial components can retain winter colour when water and nutrition are maintained.
  • Fine and coarse blades emerge in stages and knit into a mixed-texture lawn.
  • The lawn can tolerate traffic after full establishment.

Growing Notes

  • Prepare a fine, firm seedbed and spread the weighed seed in two crossing passes.
  • Keep the surface evenly moist until the slowest components emerge; reduce irrigation gradually as roots deepen.
  • First mow at about 70–80 mm, leaving 50–70 mm of leaf. Never remove more than one third.
  • Year-round green colour requires regular irrigation and feeding; it is not a low-water promise.
