Quick Grow Facts
-
Plant Type: Frost-tender tuberous perennial, normally grown as a cool-season flowering pot plant.
-
Scientific Name: Cyclamen persicum F1; Morel HALIOS HD Flamed Mix, code 2910.
-
Seed Form: Current live variants are named raw seed. “Raw” does not prove that a lot is untreated, so sow as supplied and follow any lot-specific instruction on the physical packet.
-
Sowing Plan: Count back about 32–34 weeks from the desired cool-season display and start seed only where a stable 18°C can be maintained.
-
Position: Bright filtered light, gentle morning sun or a cool, bright indoor position after germination.
-
Sow Depth and Light: Sow one seed per clean plug cell, cover with 5 mm of fine medium and keep in total darkness during the main germination stage.
-
Germination: About 20 days at a constant 18°C in controlled breeder conditions; home trays may take longer to complete emergence.
-
Final Pot and Spacing: One plant per 12–17 cm pot; keep pot centres roughly 27–30 cm apart for light and airflow.
-
Finished Size: About 32–34 cm high and 24–26 cm wide.
-
Flowering: About 32–34 weeks from sowing or 16–18 weeks from a suitable plug under controlled breeder culture.
Why Grow This Variety
- The current breeder blend is 35% HD Lilac Flame, 30% HD Magenta Flame, 20% HD Rose Flame and 15% HD Salmon Flame.
- Large maxi flowers create a premium flowering-pot display.
- Strong stems hold the flamed blooms above attractive marbled foliage.
- The 12–17 cm final-pot range suits cool, protected patios, verandas and bright indoor displays.
Garden Uses
Finish one plant per container for a large cool-season specimen. Display it in bright filtered light under frost-free cover; protect open flowers from prolonged rain, hot afternoon sun and warm nights.
Growing Notes
- Move germinated trays into bright filtered light at 18–20°C before seedlings stretch, then reduce humidity gradually and provide airflow.
- At transplanting, leave about one-third to one-half of the young tuber visible; do not bury the crown.
- Use an aerated, free-draining medium, keep it evenly moist without saturation and water at the pot edge or from below.
- Keep the tuber and foliage dry overnight, feed lightly once rooted and reduce watering as the plant naturally slows after flowering.
Safety: Cyclamen is ornamental and must not be eaten. Keep seed, tubers and plants away from children and pets.
