Cuphea Pink Shimmer Seeds produce airy, naturally branched mounds covered with petite soft-pink flowers. This heat-tolerant Cuphea ramosissima is distinct from the larger-flowered Sweet Talk series and grows well in sunny beds, borders and mixed containers.

Quick Grow Facts

  • Plant Type: Warm-season annual; frost-tender.
  • Scientific Name: Cuphea ramosissima ‘Pink Shimmer’
  • Seed Form: Precision multipellets. Sow one intact multipellet per cell as supplied; do not crush or split it. No soaking or chilling step is given, and treated or untreated status is not established.
  • General Sowing Time: Start under protection in late winter to spring, then plant out after frost. Use the regional windows in the guide.
  • Position: Full sun or partial sun.
  • Sow Depth and Light: Surface sow, press gently and do not cover; light is required. The exact breeder instruction replaces the conflicting 1 cm line on the current packet label.
  • Germination: 22–25°C. Breeder 4–5 days from 50% to maximum germination; current packet 5–7 days. Allow about 4–7 days.
  • Moisture: Keep the pellet moist enough to dissolve at first; after emergence, uncover promptly and reduce constant surface wetness.
  • Transplanting: Move the rooted plug after about four weeks, when it holds together and has true leaves. Harden gradually.
  • Spacing: 20–30 cm; use 25–30 cm for fuller mounds and better airflow.
  • Growth Type: Naturally branched mound, about 25–41 cm high and 30–46 cm wide.
  • Pinching: No routine pinching or deadheading is needed.
  • Flowering: Profuse petite pink flowers through the warm season, normally about 9–15 weeks from sowing under good conditions.

Growing Notes

  • Use clean small cells and fine, sterile, freely drained seed mix.
  • Give bright light and gentle airflow as soon as seedlings emerge.
  • Water thoroughly, then allow slight drying at the surface; do not leave plugs standing in water.
  • Grow as an annual in frost-prone gardens and protect young plants from cold, hot wind and sudden intense sun.

Ornamental seed: Multipelleted describes the seed form, not food safety. Do not eat the seed or plant parts, and keep packets away from children and pets.
