Want to grow a specialist superhot chilli for carefully measured sauces? Trinidad Scorpion is a very hot pepper; give it a long, warm season and a secure garden position away from curious children and pets. Use harvested fruit only in tiny amounts.

Ready to grow Trinidad Scorpion? Follow our Pepper and Chilli Grow Guide for warm sowing, hardening off, regional timing and fruiting care.

Quick Grow Facts

  • Crop: Trinidad Scorpion-type superhot chilli, Capsicum chinense.
  • Growth form: Branching fruiting plant; support stems if fruit load makes them lean.
  • Sow: Start about 6 mm deep in protected, free-draining mix; keep the root zone warm, around 27–32 °C for general pepper propagation, and evenly moist.
  • Plant out: Harden off and move into sun only after frost danger passes and nights are warm.
  • Space: Give plants roughly 60 cm or more for airflow and safe harvesting access.
  • Harvest: Cut fully coloured ripe fruit with clean snips; do not pull it from the branches.

Use fertile, well-drained soil and steady water while plants flower and fruit. Superhot safety: Wear gloves when handling seed and fruit, keep hands away from face and eyes, wash tools and hands thoroughly, and ventilate when cooking or drying. Keep fruit and sowing seed away from children and pets; sowing seed is not food. Brought to you by Ubuntuberg Seeds.
