Quick Grow Facts
-
Crop: PeppiGrande Red, a sweet corno-type Capsicum annuum pepper.
-
Growth form: Tall, vigorous, upright plant; use stakes or a cage. Breeder guidance gives about 91–122 cm mature height.
-
Sow: Start under protection about 6 mm deep in fine, freely draining mix. Keep the root zone warm, around 27–32 °C for general pepper propagation, and evenly moist.
-
Plant out: Harden off and plant in sun after frost danger passes and nights and soil warm.
-
Space: About 46–61 cm between supported garden plants, leaving room to reach and harvest fruit.
-
Harvest: Snip firm green fruit for earlier cooking or allow it to turn red for full ripe sweetness.
Care and Kitchen Use
Provide fertile, well-drained soil and steady water during fruit set. PeppiGrande often produces seedless fruit. To encourage this, grow it separately from non-seedless pepper varieties; nearby peppers can affect seed development. Wash fruit before grilling, roasting or stuffing.
Seed safety: Sowing seed is for planting, not eating or sprouting. Keep it away from children and pets.
