Growing Notes

• Direct sowing is preferred. If starting in cells, transplant a young intact root plug only after the soil is warm.
• Sow dry by default and follow any treatment warning or preparation instruction on the physical packet supplied with your lot.
• Keep the seed zone evenly moist, then water deeply during flowering and pod filling without waterlogging the roots.
• Avoid excessive nitrogen, which can produce tall leafy growth with fewer pods.
• Start picking tender pods at about 5–8 cm and before 10 cm, checking plants every day or two in fast summer growth.
• Wear gloves and long sleeves, cut pods cleanly and handle them gently to avoid skin irritation and bruising.
