Harvest the central head and later side shoots for steaming, boiling, roasting or stir-frying in home-grown meals.

Growing Notes

  • Treat this as a cool-season heading crop: sow 5–10 mm deep and keep the seedbed evenly moist.
  • Space plants 30–45 cm plants; 45–60 cm rows in fertile, well-drained soil.
  • Maintain steady moisture during head formation and watch for caterpillars, aphids and heat stress.
  • Harvest the central head while firm and before the flower buds open; side shoots may follow.
  • Microgreen timing and density are different from this heading-crop guidance; use the separate microgreen instructions for that purpose.
