Bells of Ireland Seed produces tall green spikes with distinctive bell-shaped calyces for fresh and dried cut-flower arrangements. It is a striking choice for South African growers who want unusual green bouquet stems and architectural garden texture.

Plant Information

  • Plant Type: Cool-season annual cut flower.

  • Height: Source copy notes about 70 cm.

Why Grow Bells of Ireland?

  • Distinctive green spikes add structure to bouquets.
  • Bell-shaped calyces are useful fresh or dried.
  • Excellent for floral designers who need green vertical stems.
  • Unusual texture makes it stand out in cut-flower gardens.
  • Source copy notes removing upper leaves after cutting.

Garden & Floristry Uses

Grow Bells of Ireland in a dedicated cut-flower row or cool-season annual bed. The green spikes work beautifully with white, blue, purple, orange and burgundy flowers, and they can also be dried for long-lasting arrangements.

Growing Notes

  • Pre-cool seed before sowing as the imported source copy recommends.
  • Sow shallowly and keep the seed tray or seedbed evenly moist.
  • Avoid hot, dry seed-starting conditions.
  • Support stems if plants are grown in windy sites.
  • After cutting, remove upper leaves as noted in the source copy.
