  • Growth type: Deciduous Amaryllis belladonna bulb, not an indoor Hippeastrum hybrid.
  • Position: Full sun with free-draining soil and shelter from severe frost.
  • Planting: Plant promptly with bulb neck at soil level or just exposed, about 20–30 cm apart; leave settled clumps undisturbed.
  • Water: Water during active cool-season leaf growth when needed; reduce water as leaves die and allow a dry summer rest.
  • Care after flowering: Retain green leaves, remove spent flower stems and divide only congested clumps while dormant. Flowers appear on bare stems in late summer.
