Sowing and Care

• Direct sow into fine, fertile, freely drained soil because coriander’s taproot dislikes disturbance.
• Cover 4 mm and keep evenly moist through the full 14–21-day packet window.
• Thin early. Use 30 × 30 cm for a full plant, or 5–10 cm for a managed leaf row.
• Keep water even and give light afternoon shade where heat is intense. Slowbolt can still flower when heat, long days, drought, crowding or root disturbance push the plant to reproduce.
• Sow a small batch every 2–3 weeks through the cool-to-mild part of your local season rather than relying on one planting indefinitely.

Harvest and Food Safety

Pick outer stems once plants are about 10–15 cm tall and leave the centre to continue growing. For roots, lift separate healthy plants before flowering; for seed, let selected umbels mature until the fruits turn light brown and dry. Do not eat sowing seed. “Raw seed” describes its physical form and is not proof that a lot is untreated. Follow the physical lot label, use clean irrigation and harvest water, and rinse edible leaves and roots under clean running water before use.
