🇿🇦 Thriving in Your South African Garden:

These magnificent gladioli are perfectly suited to our sunny South African climate!

  • Planting Season: In South Africa, plant your 'Bangladesh' Gladioli corms from late winter (August) through to mid-summer (December) for a continuous display of blooms. Stagger your plantings every few weeks for an extended flowering period!

  • Sun-Kissed Blooms: Gladioli thrive in full sun, needing at least 6 hours of direct sunlight daily to produce their most spectacular flowers. Choose a bright, open spot in your garden.

  • The Perfect Soil: They prefer well-draining soil that's rich in organic matter. If your soil is heavy clay, simply enrich it with compost and sand to ensure excellent drainage.

  • Watering Wisdom: Keep the soil consistently moist, especially during dry spells and when flower spikes are forming. A good deep watering a few times a week is more beneficial than light, frequent sprinkles.

  • Feeding for Flourish: For truly magnificent blooms, feed your gladioli with a balanced fertiliser once the sprouts emerge and again when the flower spikes start to show.

Imagine the joy of snipping long, elegant stems to create stunning indoor arrangements, bringing the beauty of your garden right into your home. Feel the pride as friends and family marvel at your unique and vibrant display. With 'Bangladesh' Gladioli, you're not just planting bulbs; you're cultivating moments of pure delight and natural splendour.

Position and soil
Gladioli look magnificent towards the back of a mixed perennial border. Groups of about 25 look best, although groups of 10 in single colours also make a bold statement. The soil should first be loosened to a depth of 20 cm. Hybrid gladioli like a compost-rich soil mix and need a full sun position to thrive. If they are planted where wind is a problem, they will need staking.

Further Care
Watering is very important and you must not allow the sub-soil to dry out. If you notice any harmful insects or fungal rust then you can treat it by spraying with an appropriate fungal spray.
