Grow Guide: How to grow Camelot foxgloves from pelleted seed in South Africa.

Why Grow This Variety

  • First-year flowering brings blooms in the same season as sowing.
  • Medium-vigorous growth and tall upright spikes provide strong vertical structure.
  • The plants suit sunny or partially shaded positions.
  • The blooms attract bees.

Garden Uses

Use Digitalis Camelot Cream in cottage gardens, containers, borders and wildlife-friendly gardens.

Growing Notes

  • Sow the pellet on pre-moistened mix and press gently for contact. Leave it uncovered where continuous moisture can be maintained; in a dry environment, use only a very light, light-transmitting dusting of fine vermiculite, never deeper than 1 mm.
  • Maintain 18–21°C, light and continuous pellet moisture without waterlogging.
  • Pot on when true leaves and roots hold the plug, then harden gradually.
  • Plant at 60 cm centres in moist, well-drained soil and support tall spikes in exposed sites.
